Barbados Beaches
And then there are the beaches - beaches everywhere. Some of the
most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean, in fact. Barbados is a
coral island, with its beaches made from finely ground coral
that form a clean, fine grain. Gorgeous white sandy beaches that
are soft on the feet, pleasing to the eye.
The East coast beaches are wide and wind-blown, with the shore
pounded by the Atlantic, making this a hot spot for surfers who
come from all over the world.
On the calmer South and West coasts, you can walk for miles
along the unbroken white sand beaches that line the shore, even
stop at a cluster of coral rocks jutting out to sea. Broken
coral formations, many appearing as abstract sculptures due to
weathering over the years, can be found along the entire
shoreline of large and small beaches.
In the North, coral and sandstone cliffs rise straight from the
sea up to 100 feet high.. though you do also encounter the
occasional sheltered cove as well.
